Collection Reminder

Bala, Port Carling, Bracebridge and Honey Harbour Commercial Routes:
Downtown Business Area Collection route collection starts Monday, November 18, 2024, for commercial recycling and garbage.

Huntsville and Gravenhurst Commercial Routes: Downtown Business Area Collection route collection starts Tuesday, November 19, 2024, for commercial recycling and garbage. 

Garbage and Recycling collection will take place weekly starting at 7 a.m., year-round. All garbage set out at the curb must have either a DBCA garbage tag or a regular District garbage bag tag to be collected. Recycling does not need to be tagged. FAQs are available below.

If you haven't received your District provided bag tags please fill out the missing bag tags form. 

Please note, if your MPAC mailing address is incorrect, you will not have received your tags. For future communications, ensure your MPAC mailing address is correct.

Curbside collection services for residents within the DBCA does not change. Collection schedule and material collected remain the same as prior to November 18, 2024.

How are Industrial, Commercial, or Institutional Business Owner’s Affected?

Starting Nov. 19, 2024:

  • Industrial, commercial, or institutional (ICI) businesses outside of Downtown Business Collection Area (DBCA) established routes will no longer qualify for participation in the recycling program. This means recycling/blue box collection services for these businesses will be discontinued.

* This program is for commercial properties only, there are no changes to residential collection. *

The Downtown Business Collection Area (DBCA) curbside program is collected weekly for both garbage and recycling. All garbage must be tagged either with the DBCA tags provided by the District or with regular green garbage bag tags. (A maximum of 10 tagged garbage bags will be collected per property.)

Recycling does not need to be tagged.

  • This change will impact industrial and commercial properties, not-for-profit organizations, daycares, places of worship, municipal buildings or facilities (such as libraries and arenas), campgrounds, trailer parks lacking permanent or seasonal households, and commercial farms.
  • Kindergarten to Grade 12 schools and non-profit retirement and long-term care facilities will still have access to the recycling program.
  • Businesses affected by this change should consider arranging recycling services through private contracts.

If in doubt about your property’s eligibility, please complete the "Eligibility Check for Recycling" form to confirm the status of its curbside recycling service.
