Divert waste from landfills by giving your old items a new life. 
Repair your item, restore it, give it to a family member, donate it to a charity or sell it. 

At this time, reuse buildings at waste facilities are temporarily closed as we continue to monitor COVID-19 and limit the number of vehicles/persons on site at one time. 

Organizations and Charities

Listed below are only some organizations and charities in Muskoka that accept gently used items for donation. Please contact the organization in advance to ensure it accepts the materials or items you'd like to donate, and ensure that all items are gently used and in working condition. There are many grass-roots organizations working to support others, we encourage residents to explore available options before disposing of their items.

Local charities accept donations of new and gently-used home furnishings, appliances and renovation items. Always call ahead to confirm if your item is acceptable or arrange for a home pick-up if that service is available.

Due to COVID-19, many organizations have changed how they are providing services or may be temporarily closed. Call, or check the service website, for additional information.

 Diabetes Canada Textile Bins

Drop reusable items in good condition in a Diabetes Canada textile bin. 

Textile bins are located just outside many of our waste facilities, and in many other locations across Muskoka.

 Habitat for Humanity ReStore

Habitat for Humanity operates non-profit home improvement retail stores across our region called Habitat ReStore, which sell donated home furnishings, appliances and other renovation materials at a fraction of the original price.

Donating to Habitat ReStore is a win for donors, customers, families, your community and the environment! Find out how your donations of new and gently-used home furnishings, appliances, kitchen and bath fixtures and other renovation items can make a lasting difference in people’s lives.

There are two locations in Muskoka - Bracebridge and Huntsville.

 The Salvation Army 

The Salvation Army is a Christian organization that gives hope and support to vulnerable people in 400 communities across Canada and in 131 countries. Your donations of gently used clothing and household items are needed more than ever to help our communities rebuild from the impact of COVID-19.
