Clean Muskoka Together is a year-round program that helps residents and community groups clean up litter in public spaces across Muskoka. We provide free cleanup kits and free disposal of collected litter.

You must sign up at least 2 weeks before your cleanup date to participate.

On this page:

  1. Plan your cleanup
  2. Sign up for a cleanup
  3. Pick up your Cleanup Kit
  4. Do your cleanup safely
  5. Drop off litter and recycling
  6. Complete your Cleanup Report
  7. Share your cleanup with the community

Step 1: Plan your cleanup

Before you sign up, decide:

  • Date and time for your cleanup
  • A rain date in case of bad weather
  • A public location with litter (parks, trails, sidewalks, sports fields)

Avoid these areas:

  • Busy roadsides
  • Private property
  • Lakes, rivers, and riverbanks
  • Railway tracks

Invite volunteers

Ask friends, family, neighbours, or community groups to join you.

Step 2: Sign up for a cleanup

 Sign up now!

You must sign up at least 2 weeks before your cleanup date.

After you sign up, you will receive a confirmation email with the next steps.

If you do not receive your email:

  • Check your spam or junk folder
  • Contact us if it does not arrive within a week

Step 3: Pick up your Cleanup Kit

After you sign up, pick-up details will be sent to you by email.
Cleanup Kits are only available to participants who have signed up for a cleanup.

Your kit includes:

  • Specially marked garbage bags (required for free drop-off)
  • Transparent recycling bags
  • Gloves

Step 4: Do your cleanup safely

Before you begin:

  • Make sure all volunteers review the safety guidelines in your Cleanup Kit

During your cleanup:

  • Put litter in the specially marked garbage bags
  • Put recycling in the transparent bags

Step 5: Drop off litter and recycling

After your cleanup:

  • Take all bags to a District Waste Facility
  • Do not leave bags at the curb or on a roadway. They will not be collected.

Important:

  • Only specially marked Clean Muskoka Together bags qualify for free drop-off
  • These bags are only provided to participants who have signed up

Step 6: Complete your Cleanup Report

 Complete a Cleanup Report

After your cleanup, you must submit a Cleanup Report.

The report helps us:

  • Confirm your cleanup was completed
  • Track how much litter was collected
  • Identify large or hazardous items
  • Understand community cleanup efforts across Muskoka

Step 7: Share your cleanup

You can share photos or videos from your cleanup:
