Muskoka Waste Facilities Make the Clear Commitment Clear Garbage Bags Required Starting January 2026

The Clear Bag Program keeps food waste and hazardous items out of garbage, protecting Muskoka’s environment and extending the life of the Rosewarne Landfill.
MUSKOKA, Ont. (Nov. 12, 2025) – Starting January 2, 2026, residents and businesses across Muskoka will be required to use clear, colourless garbage bags at all District Waste Facilities to be considered as part of the weekly allowance. Materials arriving in black or solid coloured garbage bags will be subject to applicable charges.

The District of Muskoka, has partnered with Lakeland EV Charging whohas secured funding through the Provincial ChargeOn Grant. This initiative has enabled the installation of 4, Level 2 chargers at 98 Pine St, Bracebridge, Ontario.

Tuesday, September 16, 2025 (Muskoka, ON) - The District of Muskoka has launched a new online tool to help track incidents of hate and support ongoing efforts to create safer, more inclusive communities.
The Hate Stops Here Portal is part of the District’s response to recommendations from the 2022 Hate-Free Muskoka Symposium, where community members identified the need for a formal way to track hate incidents across the region.
