Special and Seasonal Programs

If you can’t make either event, residents of Georgian Bay can drop-off large items at the Baxter or Tower Road transfer stations at no charge during regular operating hours. Visit our Drop-off Locations and Landfill page for transfer station hours and locations. 

Event details: 

• Minor’s Bay Launch – June 22, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
• Honey Harbour Town Dock (across from Honey Harbour General Store) – July 13, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Event reminders: 

• Residents are responsible for unloading items from their watercraft and putting items in the event bins; please ensure you bring help to unload your material. 
• Abandoning material before or after the scheduled event is considered illegal dumping. By-law staff will be present. 
• Events will not start before 10 a.m. Please allow staff time to set up and prepare before the event begins. 
• Events are for water access residents bringing large items by boat only; Items delivered by a vehicle won’t be accepted. 
• Household garbage is not accepted at these events – the events are for acceptable large items only. Two (2) bags of household bagged garbage can be delivered to a waste facility or depot at no charge each week. 

Acceptable items: 

• Appliances (stoves, dishwashers, washing machines etc.) 
• Furniture (couches, chairs, tables, shelves, etc.) 
• Metal Items (barbeques, hot water heaters, bicycles, etc. – max length – 3 m (10’)) 
• Mattresses 

Unacceptable items: 

• Household bagged garbage 
• Motorized vehicles 
• Freon Units (Fridges, Freezers, Water coolers, AC units, dehumidifiers) 
• Boats of any type 
• Propane camping cylinders 
• Household hazardous waste 
• Dock cribbing / dock foam 
• Construction/renovation waste (insulation, drywall, doors, windows, etc.) 
• Stumps, rocks, sod, landscape materials, wood   
• Boat wrap
