If you do not receive curbside collection, you can submit an application for collection:
- on a private road, or
- at a Common Collection Point (CCP, shared pickup location)

This may be a good option if:
- you live on a privately owned road
- the road can safely support collection trucks
- all property owners agree to the service
Common Collection Point Location
This may be a good option if:
- your road cannot support collection trucks
- you need a shared pickup location nearby
- your road owner approves the location

Check your road status before you apply
You cannot apply if your road:
- is planned to become a municipal road
- is in the process of becoming a municipal or provincial road.
- If the road owner(s) does not agree to the trucks being on the road.
This is called road assumption. It means the road will become publicly owned and maintained.
Check with your local municipality if you are not sure who owns your road.
Apply for private road collection
What you need
- proof of who owns the private road
- written consent from all road owners
- agreement from all property owners who will use the service
- your property roll number (from your tax bill)
Road requirements
Your road must:
- be safe for collection trucks
- be at least 4.5 meters (15 feet) wide
- have at least 3.6 meters (12 feet) of clear height
- allow for adequate turn around space for collection vehicles
In winter your road must:
- be plowed to at least 4.5 meters (15 feet) wide
- have no more than 5 cm (2 inches) of snow
- be cleared and safe by 7:00 a.m. on collection day
- be sanded or salted if icy

Clearances
- Keep the road clear of branches, wires, and obstacles
Road condition
- Keep the road free of potholes, erosion, and debris
- Avoid soft shoulders, flooding, or unsafe surfaces
Winter maintenance
- Maintain safe conditions throughout collection day
- Meet District or provincial maintenance standards (whichever is stricter)
Ongoing requirements
- The District may inspect the road at any time
- Service may be stopped if conditions become unsafe

What you need
- proof of road ownership and consent from roadway owners
- a completed Bin Placement Approval Form[LINK] (approved by your local municipality)
- agreement from all affected property owners
- your property roll number (from your tax bill)
- number of homes using the collection point

Location requirements
The collection point must:
- be close to the main road (within 5 metres)
- be accessible for collection trucks
- have enough space for all required bins
- be in a shared location that works for all users
Each bin:
- can serve a maximum of 2 households
- is required to be maintained by the owner and meet requirements under the by-law
You are responsible for maintaining the collection point

Location and setup
- Must be on approved private or public land
- Municipal approval is required before applying

Surface
- Must be solid and level (no soft ground, gravel, or slopes)
Bin requirements
- Must be made of wood or metal
- Must be in good condition and maintained
- Must be clearly labeled with a civic address
Access and maintenance
- Must be accessible at all times
- Snow, brush, and debris must be cleared
- Lids must open and not be frozen shut
Use and responsibilities
- Garbage must be bagged
- Organics must be in a green bin
Bin owners are responsible for:
- maintenance
- wildlife damage
- illegal dumping
Important
- Repeated issues (illegal dumping or poor maintenance) may result in service being cancelled
