Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Muskoka

Big Brothers, Big Sisters provides mentoring programs that link a child or youth with a role model to talk to and share the experiences of growing up. Through regular outings, relationships are developed and results in life-changing experiences for both the mentor and mentee. An in-school mentoring program and P.R.I.S.M. program for LGBTQ+ youth are also available.

Child Care Fee Subsidy - The District of Muskoka

The District of Muskoka can help with the cost of child care expenses for low to modest income families residing in Muskoka. The Child Care Fee Subsidy Program is available for families who are working, attending school or have a special family circumstance.

Children’s Foundation of Muskoka
The Children’s Foundation of Muskoka provides grants to meet the recreational, cultural, medical and emotional needs of children in Muskoka. Whether it be camp, sports, recreation, dance, music lessons, or simply providing basic necessities like a bed or clothing, these grants provide opportunities for children and youth to be happy, healthy and to thrive.

Children's Services Community Facilitator

The Community Facilitator helps families by:

  • Connecting them with medical, dental, developmental, behavioural, or other therapeutic services
  • Obtaining birth certificates, health cards or other important documentation
  • Linking them with parent support and resources
  • Accessing funding for infant equipment, recreational activities and other needs
  • Problem solving other unique challenges.

Community Living Huntsville
For families whose children are 18 months to 6 years old, Community Living Huntsville provides personalized services to support overall development. Resource Consultants offer developmental screenings and home programming, and can help families advocate for their children in childcare and school settings.

Community Living South Muskoka

Community Living South Muskoka provides a Resource Teacher program and is also responsible for planning, developing and implementing support plans for children ages 2-6 with special needs and their families, in their home, licensed child care programs and community settings. A Family Support Program is also offered for school aged children.

The Muskoka Libraries provide free programming, resources and services to community members of all ages. From parenting and picture books to children's educational programming, Libraries offer a variety of free family resources that are accessible to all.

Macaulay Tree House is a licensed child care operator located in Bracebridge. Muskoka Home Child Care Agency
The Muskoka Home Child Care Agency (MHCCA) is a local, licensed child care agency that promotes safe, home-based child care where all children, families, and providers are valued and respected. Home-based child care programs are located throughout Muskoka and may provide evening and weekend care.

New providers are always welcome. Ongoing training, guaranteed biweekly payments and support from a Registered Early Childhood Educator are just a few of the benefits of joining the Agency. Contact them for more information.
