Making Child Care Affordable for Families

We can help make child care more affordable for families in Muskoka by paying for some, or all of your child care costs directly to your child care provider. This financial assistance is available through the District of Muskoka's Children's Program and Services division and is available to families:

  • who are working;
  • going to school; and/or
  • who have a child with demonstrated special needs

Financial need is determined through an income test. You can use the online calculator linked below to determine your eligibility or view the table for an approximate daily parental contribution based on your combined family net income.

What Are My Child Care Options?Child Care Fee Subsidy may be available for families using the following:

  • Licensed Child Care Programs (centre-based and home child care),
  • Licensed Before and After-School Programs, or
  • Approved Community Recreation Programs.

Parents make the choice as to where to place their child.

How do I Apply for Fee Subsidy?

Effective March 2021, there are two ways that you can apply for Fee Subsidy:

  1. Complete the online application at the following link: Fee Subsidy Online Application
    This link will launch our new online application portal which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

  2. Call the Children’s Services Department at 705-645-2412 ext. 4638. During this call, you will complete an intake form and will be informed on what documentation will be required to determine eligibility. You will also be provided with a list of the information required. An appointment will be scheduled with a Child Care Case Manager.
