Volunteer and support our Long-Term Care homes

Volunteers and community supporters help make Fairvern and The Pines welcoming places to live. • I want to volunteer with non-resident related tasks (laundry folding, seasonal decorating, watering the plants, garden care, infection control surface cleaning)
  • I want to help through fundraising and events (join a support group)
  • I want to make a donation (support programs and equipment)

 Pines Support Committee

The Pines Support Committee is a volunteer based group that was established in 2009. Their purpose is to encourage charitable donations to enrich the lives of residents who make The Pines their home.

Recent accomplishments

Thanks to the generosity of donors, the committee has supported a wide range of resident-focused initiatives, including:

  • Hi-Lo beds for every resident room
  • Specialized resident care equipment, including lifts and palliative care carts
  • Smart TVs, iPads, computers and laptops
  • Recreation equipment, entertainment, and resident amenities
  • Raised gardens, outdoor furniture, and courtyard enhancements
  • Renovations to the Country Kitchen, front entrance, patios, and balconies

The committee is also working with the District to create a Memorial Garden that will provide residents and families with a peaceful, accessible outdoor space featuring walking paths, gardens, trees, benches, and shaded seating areas.

What's involved

Committee members serve a minimum one-year term and meet quarterly to:

  • Review funding requests that enhance resident life
  • Determine how donated funds are invested
  • Plan fundraising events and initiatives
  • Raise awareness about the committee and opportunities to support The Pines

How you can help

There are many ways to support the work of the committee:

  • Become a member and help shape future fundraising initiatives and resident enhancements.
  • Share your ideas for programs, equipment, or projects that would benefit residents.
