Student Opportunities for Summer 2024

Each year, the District offers summer employment opportunities for students enrolled in full-time post-secondary studies for the following school year.

All Summer Student positions will be available subject to budget and Council approval.

Summer Employment Requirements

Students must be able to prove enrolment in post-secondary studies for the Fall of 2024
Students must be available to start work the first week of May and work through to the end of August
For certain jobs, students must hold a valid Ontario Driver's License, minimum Class G2, as using a District vehicle is a requirement of the job. Other jobs require students to be able to travel between any of the District offices - you may be asked to confirm that you have the ability to work in any of our locations.
Successful applicants assigned to outside work must supply their own steel-toed safety shoes, while The District Municipality of Muskoka will supply all other required safety apparel and protective equipment.
Office based student jobs are typically based out of our Administration building in Bracebridge, however these roles may be eligable to participate in the Hybrid Work Pilot Project.
As a condition of employment at the District of Muskoka, employees are required to provide and maintain documentation and compliance of all certifications, qualifications required by policy and/or applicable legislation.

Student rates are based upon job requirements and previous experience with The District Municipality of Muskoka. The 2024 rates for students are as follows:

Year 1 Student - $18.55 per hour

Year 2 Student - $19.30 per hour

Year 3 Student - $20.05 per hour
