How to Apply 

To submit your application electronically, please click on the button under "Apply Now" beside the job. An email message will automatically open and you will attach your resume and cover letter to it. If we are no longer accepting resumes for the job, there will be no button beside the job.

  • All applications require a cover letter and resume. Please submit these as one file, not two separate documents. Acceptable file formats for applications are .doc, .docx or PDF files.
  • Your email subject line should include the following information:
    • Last Name, First Name - Job Title
    • For example: Doe, Jane - Receptionist      
  • You must submit an application for each job you are interested in.
  • Please apply before the posting deadline noted on each opportunity.
  • All resumes must be received through Human Resources. Resumes sent directly to managers will not be accepted.

What skills do I need to work at the District?

All jobs in the District require completion of your Grade 12 education, at minimum.

However, each job also requires its own set of skills, specific to the role. The job postings will outline the minimum requirements for each job.

How often are new job opportunities posted?
Job opportunities are normally posted on Wednesdays. We encourage you to check back regularly for updates or subscribe to our careers page to receive automatic updates when new jobs are added.
If I email my resume should I also send a hard copy to ensure that it was received?

No, our preferred method of application is through our online process. If you have submitted your resume online, please do not send a hard copy.

When you submit a resume you will receive a confirmation to indicate that it has been received.  

How do I apply for more than one job posting?
You must send a cover letter and resume, as 1 document, for each job you wish to apply to.
What format should I use when emailing my resume?
Resume and cover letter attachments should be no larger than 5 MB. Resumes are accepted in the following file types: .doc, .pdf, .rtf, .txt.  Please send your application as 1 file, not two separate attachments.
Can I submit a resume even if there are no postings that interest me?
The District does not accept resumes unless they are for a specific job.
What happens to my resume once it has been received?

Once the job posting closes, Human Resources reviews all resumes and then forwards qualified applications to the Hiring Manager. The Hiring Manager will review the skills and abilities of each applicant and create a short-list. Short-listed candidates may be contacted for additional information or to arrange an interview. Only the candidates who most closely meet the requirements of the job will be contacted.

This process could take up to four weeks, or longer, from the specified closing date. The current opportunities page will indicate what stage the recruitment process is in for each job.

Due to the volume of resumes we receive, we would appreciate if applicants did not place follow-up calls.

Will I be contacted after my application is submitted?
You only will be contacted if we require additional information to assess your suitability to the job or if you are selected for an interview. 
How do I request an accommodation for my interview?

If you require accommodation to participate in the recruitment process, please contact Human Resources and we will make every effort to accommodate your needs during an interview.

Where do I go for my interview?
The location of your interview will be provided to you when you are contacted. Generally, all first round interviews take place at our Pine Street Campus in Bracebridge.
What can I expect at my interview?

Interviews are normally conducted by a panel of at least two people. 

The interviewers will give you more details on the job, and you will be asked both behaviour-based and technical knowledge questions.

In some cases, you will be asked to complete a skills test at the interview or you may be given an assignment to prepare for in advance of the interview.
