Education Grants and Funding Opportunities

Supportive Care Assistant Program

There’s an urgent need for more health-care workers. If you want to learn in-demand skills, get practical work experience, and make a difference in your community, apply now for the Supportive Care Assistant Program. Colleges and institutes across Canada are currently accepting applications.

This micro-certificate program includes six weeks of online training, done at your pace, followed by a paid work placement.

  • Free tuition
  • Paid work experience
  • Flexible online learning

After graduating, you could receive $5,000 to take further education to become a PSW or other health care professional.

Bridging Educational Grant In Nursing (BEGIN) Program 

The Program is part of the government’s commitment to recruit nurses to the Long-term Care (LTC) and Home & Community Care (HCC) sectors by supporting PSWs and RPNs to career ladder to RPN and RN roles respectively.

BEGIN is expected to:

  • Improve retention of nurses in the LTC/HCC sectors.
  • Foster a culture of excellence in LTC/HCC to make these sectors of choice for the nursing profession.

Tuition Support For Nurses

The Tuition Support Program for Nurses is part of the government's commitment to provide more families with access to primary health care, and to support the recruitment and retention of nurses to rural and remote areas across the province.

The Tuition Support Program for Nurses (TSPN) offers tuition reimbursement to recent nursing graduates from rural and remote communities who are new College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) registrants and who choose to do a return-of-service (ROS) in an eligible underserviced community. The program is open to nurse practitioner, registered nurse and registered practical nurse graduates who apply within one year of having graduated from a Canadian University or College.

Food Service Worker - Free Tuition Program

This fully funded program, beginning in March 2022, was developed to upgrade and enhance the knowledge and skills of those employed as Food Service Workers and Dietary Aides, as well as those who wish to seek employment in dietary areas in the healthcare sector.
