The Acton Island Bridge, which has served the community for many decades, requires rehabilitation work to preserve critical structural components and maintain the structure's original service life of 75 years. The project will also include resurfacing and drainage improvements on Muskoka Road 29, which are included in the Bridge Rehabilitation contract.

 
SCHEDULED: Two Overnight Full Road/Bridge Closures

Monday, November 13, 2023: 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Tuesday, November 14, 2023: 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

We know you've been waiting! We've been emphasizing for a couple of weeks that these closures require good weather to achieve the final, reliable product we're after.

Crews are preparing to close the road overnight Monday and Tuesday, to accommodate the final bridgework and paving on the Acton Island Bridge.

⚠️ Acton Island Bridge will be fully closed:

• Monday, November 13, 2023: 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• Tuesday, November 14, 2023: 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Please note that there will be no access across the bridge during overnight work.

The project team is working closely with Emergency Services partners to ensure there are no delays overnight if you need help. Signage on-site has been updated and crews are working hard to prepare the bridge deck for overnight work.

We're almost done!

By the end of the week, our Acton Island community will enjoy a safe and revitalized structure that connects our communities, complete with a smooth driving surface.
