Proceedings will be heard in-person, by remote technology (video or telephone) or a combination of in-person and remote technology.

TRIALS

If you requested a trial, your notice of trial will indicate either in-person appearance by having a court address or appearance by electronic method (video) by having Zoom information. If your notice provides for in-person appearance you may contact the court office to request to appear by video. If your notice provides for a trial by video you may contact the court office to request to appear in-person.

If you appear by video the justice of the of the peace may order that you appear in person. Section 83.1(4) of the Provincial Offences Act permits the presiding judicial officer to order a participant  to appear in-person.

If you received a summons from the Ontario Provincial Police or another enforcement agency to attend court:

Your summons will include information about where to appear in person (courthouse address and courtroom number). It may also include information about how to appear by video (Zoom).

If you received an Notice of Electronic Resolution (also referred to as Early Resolution) because you exercised option 3 on your ticket of offence:

This is a voluntary two part procedure.

Step 1:  You are required to speak with the Prosecutor and determine if there is a resolution to bring forward two weeks prior to your resolution date.  Phone:  705-645-2100 x 4618 or email:  prosecutions@muskoka.on.ca

Step 2:  If  a resolution is agreed upon, please join the Zoom court session stated in your letter, the details are also outlined above.  If a resolution can not be agreed upon, a Notice of Trial will be mailed to the address on file.  

Note:  If you have retained an agent or a representative, you must communicate this information with them - the court does not send correspondence to agents or representatives.
