You Asked. We Listened! Community feedback helps shape new extended hours.

Residents and seasonal property owners in the Georgian Bay area now have more time to drop off their household waste, recycling, and organics.

The District Municipality of Muskoka will be extending summer hours at the South Gibson and Honey Harbour depots, effective August 4, 2026. More than 200 residents shared their feedback through a survey, helping shape the new schedule to better meet community needs.

The extended hours build on the Bin Site Transition Project, which replaced former unsupervised bin sites with modern, supervised waste services that meet provincial and environmental requirements.

EXTENDED HOURS

South Gibson Depot - 101 South Gibson Rd., Georgian Bay

Hours of Operation

Monday to Friday: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday: 8 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Honey Harbour Depot - 2475 Honey Harbour Rd., Georgian Bay

Hours of Operation

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

(Closed Tuesdays during the Summer)

Saturday and Sunday – 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The new schedule adds almost 50 additional hours of service each week, between the two depots, giving residents more flexibility to visit when it works best for them.

Supervised drop-off depots are an important part of Muskoka’s waste management system, providing all residents with convenient, reliable, and environmentally responsible waste disposal options close to home across Muskoka.
