More Ways to Manage Waste: Lake Muskoka Depot Opens in Bracebridge

Residents and seasonal property owners now have a new, convenient place to drop off household waste, recycling, and organics in the Bracebridge area.  

The District Municipality of Muskoka celebrated the official opening of the Lake Muskoka Depot in Bracebridge today, marking an important milestone in the Bin Site Transition Project.  

The depot is located at 1770 Beaumont Dr, Bracebridge, ON, and opened for service last Saturday, June 13. 

Accessible and environmentally responsible option in the community 

“The Lake Muskoka Depot gives residents and seasonal property owners a convenient and reliable place to manage their waste close to home. It’s an important addition to the community and helps ensure residents continue to have access to modern waste services,” said District Councillor Rhodes, Town of Bracebridge Councillor, who attended the opening on Monday. 

Drop-off depots are an important part of Muskoka’s waste management system. They provide a convenient form of waste collection service primarily for residents who do not receive curbside or Lakeside Waste Collection services. They play an important role in ensuring all residents across Muskoka continue to have access to responsible waste disposal options.  

Building a better waste management system  

As former unsupervised bin sites were phased out, new service options were introduced to better meet residents’ needs. These include expanded curbside collection, Lakeside Waste Collection for certain water-access properties, supervised drop-off depots, and improved recycling and organics services. The result is a safer, cleaner, and more convenient waste management system that provides residents with more ways to manage waste responsibly. 

The opening of the Lake Muskoka Depot is another step toward providing residents with more convenient, reliable, and environmentally responsible waste services across Muskoka.
