Truck Half-Load Restrictions on District Roads in Effect March 15, 2021

March 1, 2021 (Muskoka, ON) - Reduced load restrictions of 5 tonnes per axle will take effect on many District roads beginning March 15, 2021. 

Roads are their most vulnerable in the spring as frost leaves the ground. Load restrictions help extend the lifespan of the road surface by minimizing damage from heavy vehicles. Road conditions will be continually monitored and the restriction will be lifted when road conditions will allow.

Signs will indicate restrictions on District roads where these weight restrictions apply. When a half-load restriction is in effect, our road is off limits to heavy transports and any vehicle exceeding 5 tonnes per axle. However, there may be alternate routes that can be taken in order to reach the destination.  Visit our website to explore an interactive map of half-load restrictions on District roads via the Muskoka GeoHub, the District’s online web mapping portal.
