Significant Weather Event Lifted in Muskoka

January 3, 2023 (Muskoka, ON) –  The Significant Weather Event has been lifted for the District of Muskoka roads in the Township of Georgian Bay.

The District of Muskoka has lifted the Significant Weather Event Declaration for all District roads, including the Township of Georgian Bay, as of January 3rd, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. The Significant Weather Event for the District of Muskoka was declared on December 23, 2022. As of 12:00 p.m. on December 31, 2022, the Significant Weather Event was lifted for all District roads outside of the Township of Georgian Bay – the declaration was extended for the Township of Georgian Bay but has now been lifted.

Please be sure to use caution and extra care when using roads and sidewalks. Residents and visitors are reminded that vehicles may still be ticketed and/or towed if they interfere with normal snow removal operations.

Crews from the District and our partner municipalities continue to work to recover from the snowstorm. Although the Significant Weather Event has been lifted in all areas, efforts continue to ensure roadways and sidewalks are safe for motorists and pedestrians. Snow removal activities will take place in communities across Muskoka to improve visibility at intersections – we ask for your patience while this work is completed.

For further details, please visit our release from December 31st. 2022, here.
