Tuesday, February 6, 2024 (Muskoka, ON) – Muskoka is continuing to enhance access to high-quality and affordable child care for families through the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement (CWELCC).
In line with the provincial framework, the District will create an additional 373 CWELCC spaces in Muskoka by the end of 2026 and is continuing to make progress in increasing capacity and bringing on new operators.
Muskoka Home Child Care Agency
The Muskoka Home Child Care Agency (MHCCA) is licensed by the Ministry of Education and has been directly operated by the District of Muskoka since 2015. MHCCA offers a high quality, accessible and affordable child care program for children from birth to age 12.
Licensed Home Child Care provides a unique and rich learning environment for children. Siblings can often be placed together and smaller group sizes allow for more child and provider interaction. The MHCCA team are Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE) and work closely with providers to ensure they meet provincial standards. They also work closely with families to form trusting, supportive relationships that help children grow and develop to their full potential.
MHCCA continues to grow, fostering partnerships with two (2) new providers who will bring a total of 10 new licensed child care spaces to Muskoka families in Utterson (opening February 12, 2024) and Port Carling (opening February 20, 2024).
