Celebrating the Opening of 44 New Affordable Housing Units in Muskoka

Everyone deserves a safe, welcoming place to call home. That is why the opening of 100 Pine Street is an important milestone for Muskoka.

The District of Muskoka is celebrating the completion of this new affordable housing development in Bracebridge, designed specifically for seniors and people living with disabilities.

More than a building

Bright, beautiful and built with care, 100 Pine Street offers:

A mix of affordable studio and one-bedroom rental units
Housing for people on community housing waitlists and those at risk of or experiencing homelessness
14 barrier-free units, an elevator and accessible parking
A universally accessible design throughout all units and common spaces, making it easier to support changing mobility needs over time
Environmentally friendly features that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy efficiency, and lower operating costs
A convenient location close to public transit, McVittie Place, and walking trails

100 Pine Street supports the District’s commitment to expanding access to safe, attainable, and sustainable housing across Muskoka.

This build was made possible through funding contributions from all three levels of government, including the Federal Government’s Affordable Housing Fund, and the Federal Government’s National Housing Strategy and the Province of Ontario through the Ontario Priorities Housing Initiative (OPHI) and Canada-Ontario Community Housing Initiative (COCHI).

The official opening of 100 Pine Street on Monday, June 15 brought together the Associate Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and MPP for Parry Sound–Muskoka, District Councillors, Town Councillors, project partners, community leaders, staff, and contractors to celebrate the milestone and the impact it will have for residents.

Results we can see: Muskoka’s Big Move on Housing

Housing has been identified as a key priority during this term of Council.

The "Big Move on Housing" plan is an 8-year plan to help create more housing across Muskoka.District Council has committed up to $35.125 million to support housing projects and partnerships that help reduce homelessness, expand affordable housing and support future housing growth.

One key focus area under The Big Move is “Deepest Need”. This focus area supports people experiencing homelessness, people at risk of homelessness and households waiting for community housing.100 Pine Street is one of the first investments, and the opening of this building reflects tangible results of the Big Move.

For 44 households, this building represents more than a new address. It represents stability, independence, and a place to call home.
