(Bracebridge, ON) – 2020 was the seventh year for the Community Services Recognition Award Program, a program that recognizes the outstanding contributions made by individuals and/or groups related to the goals and values of Muskoka Community Services. The program is also intended to strengthen partnerships within Muskoka by recognizing the extraordinary achievements made by members within our community.
On Monday, December 21, a special meeting of the Community and Planning Services Committee took place virtually, recognizing 11 award recipients nominated in the following two categories:
In previous years, the program has also sought nominations for organizations that have provided exceptional partnership and leadership in collaboration with Community Services and other community groups to strengthen the fabric of the Muskoka Community. For the 2020 award program and in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, rather than providing one or two organizations with an award this year, the award program recognized the amazing work being done by a wide variety of organizations that have been working tirelessly to support our community during this difficult time. This recognition was presented in the form of a photo slideshow themed to the established community hashtag #muskokacares.
“This event celebrates the journey, commitment and volunteerism of individuals and organizations in Muskoka and I am so pleased to see such dedication throughout our community” shares District Chair John Klinck. “On behalf of Muskoka District Council and the community as a whole, I’d like to thank each and every one of our 2020 award recipients and all community groups and organizations working tirelessly throughout the pandemic to improve the lives of those in our community”.
“Our community wouldn’t be as full or whole without people like you in it”, shares Nancy Alcock Chair of the Community and Planning Services Committee. “I’d like to express a heartfelt thank you to each of our 2020 recipients for going above and beyond the call of duty, especially during such a challenging year.”
