- An acceptable payment history would be an individual who has shown a good credit history with Muskoka over the most recent 2-year period with no penalties or arrears on the account. If no previous history with Muskoka, a letter of credit reference from another utility company showing good payment history for a minimum of one year would be acceptable or a copy of a current credit score report greater than 700 showing your name, score and date. A completed application form must also be on file and payments must be received electronically (online, telebanking, bank machine etc.) for deposit to be waived. Enrolling in a Pre-Authorized Payment Plan does NOT waive the deposit unless the above credit reference requirements are fulfilled.
- New customers who cannot demonstrate that they have a good payment history will be required to pay a deposit. Our billing clerks will determine the amount of the deposit based on type of occupancy (average consumption or number of occupants) and billing period. If a deposit amount is not received in advance, then a deposit amount will appear on your first user fee bill.
- If a deposit is currently held on account, a customer can apply to have the deposit reimbursed if they can demonstrate, similar to new customers, that they have a good payment history, have completed an application form and payment is received electronically.
