Update: Water Outage and Boil Water Advisory Impacting the Town of Bracebridge

Sunday, January 10, 2021 (Bracebridge, ON) - The District has identified the issue causing the water service outage and is working quickly to repair service to our Bracebridge community.

• A watermain break was discovered causing a service interruption impacting the majority of customers in Bracebridge. Repair to the break is underway.
• As repairs take place, water pressure will build slowly throughout the day, however, a Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
• The Boil Water Advisory remains in effect until it is lifted by the Medical Officer of Health or a Public Health Inspector after sampling confirms no contamination of the drinking water. Updates will be posted when the Boil Water Advisory has been lifted.
• An update will be provided this afternoon. 

Boil Water Advisory
A Boil Water Advisory is being issued for the water system users in Bracebridge. This means those who take their water from the municipal system should temporarily not use it for the following uses: drinking; making juice, infant formula or ice; cooking; washing uncooked fruits and vegetables; or, brushing teeth. The District will update residents as more information becomes available. 

Drinking Water
As an alternative, residents may temporarily get their drinking water from a source that is safe (Kirby’s Beach Water Treatment Plant at 1601 Beaumont Drive in Bracebridge or locations in Gravenhurst that can be found here) or buy bottled water in the short-term. If you are accessing water taps or the water treatment plant, please ensure you follow COVID-19 safety protocols and maintain social distancing and wear a face-covering where necessary.
