The District of Muskoka is conducting a 5 Year Update to its 10-Year Housing and Homelessness Plan (HHP) and a comprehensive Homelessness System Review. This initiative aims to assess the area’s housing needs, evaluate homelessness services, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Muskoka is committed to Housing for Everyone. This update will:

Evaluate current and future housing needs.
Identify gaps and barriers in the housing and homelessness system.
Develop strategies for effective housing and support services.
Align with provincial and federal housing policies and funding opportunities.

A strong community engagement approach will ensure that local perspectives are included in shaping policies and programs that directly impact Muskoka residents.

Community Survey

Thank you to everyone who completed our recent 10-Year Housing and Homelessness Plan survey! The survey is now closed.

Your feedback is helping to shape the next five years of Muskoka's housing strategy. The updated plan will be presented to Community and Planning Services Committee later this year and made available to the public.

Stakeholder Focus Groups

We are hosting sector-specific consultation meetings to explore housing challenges and solutions. These meetings will include:

Non-Profit Housing Providers
Private Market Stakeholders (landlords, developers, employers)
Homelessness and Community Service Providers
Local Municipalities

Engagement with Individuals with Lived Experience

We will connect with residents who have experienced housing instability or homelessness to gather direct insights into challenges and service needs.

Key Informant Interviews

We will conduct one-on-one interviews with:

District of Muskoka staff
Indigenous Partners
Muskoka Housing Task Force members
Housing and homelessness agencies
Health and social service providers
