Police services in Muskoka are provided by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on a fee-for-service basis. Police services are a financial responsibility of The District Municipality of Muskoka, funded through property tax revenue.
The OPP provides policing services to 324 municipalities across Ontario. Their services include public safety, traffic safety, municipal policing, and more.
The OPP is obligated to recover the cost of these services provided. Effective January 1, 2015 the New OPP Billing Model has been approved for implementation and phase in by the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
