Website Accessibility

The four main principles of the AODA legislation's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 were used to guide design, develop, and validate compliance during the District's 2015 website development project:

  • Perceivable - reading of content
  • Operable - navigating the site
  • Understandable - intuitive site content and structure
  • Robust - compatible with a variety of browsers and assistive technologies

Alternate Formats and Communication Support

All documents required by the Accessibility Standards for Customer Service, including Muskoka's

Accessible Customer Services policies, procedures and practices, notices of temporary disruptions, training records, and written feedback process are available upon request, subject to MFIPPA.

When a document is provided to a person with a disability, Muskoka will make every effort to provide the document, or the information contained in the document, in a format that takes the person's disability into account.

Municipal Requirements

  1. Report on the measures that the municipality has taken to identify, remove and prevent barriers to people with disabilities
  2. Describe the measures in place to ensure that the municipality assesses its proposals for by-laws, policies, programs, practices and services to determine their effect on accessibility for people with disabilities
  3. List the by-laws, policies, programs, practices and services that the municipality will review to identify the barriers to people with disabilities
  4. Describe the measures the municipality intends to take to identify, remove and prevent barriers to people with disabilities
  5. Make the accessibility plan available to the public
