How do I get my family member on a waiting list?
The long-term care home placement process includes a multi-part assessment, including an assessment by a North Simcoe Muskoka Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) Care Coordinator, to ensure there is an accurate record of your medical history, and to help determine eligibility for long-term care. The Care Coordinator will discuss all options, including providing options for long- term care homes.
 How much does it cost?
Rates are set by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
How do I book a tour or learn more?
Please contact us at (705) 645-4488 to arrange a tour of the home.
Can the resident retain their own physician?
A resident can keep his/her physician if the physician agrees to continue the care at The Pines and they have applied for privileges at our home.
 Is there 24-hour care?
Yes. We provide 24-hour nursing and medical care as needed (full medical coverage). A team of Personal Support Workers, Registered Practical Nurses, and Registered Nurses staff our home at all times. The registered staff administers all medications to our residents.
What health services are available to my loved one at The Pines?
There are various health services available including dental, audiology, hearing aid, and eye examinations. A foot care provider offers foot and nail care to residents at an extra cost.  For various other services it is recommended to speak to the RN to inform you of the service to include as part of the resident's Care Plan and inform staff.
What type of activities and social programming do you provide?
Recreation staff provide resident programming 7 days a week throughout the day and evening.  Programs are carried out using Montessori Methods to focus on resident interests and needs while promoting independence and self worth.
Is the resident allowed to keep a pet?
Unfortunately no - but pets can visit provided they are friendly, compatible, immunized and are on a leash at all times.  We have an active pet visiting program as well as many interesting fish tanks and birds in the common areas.
 What meals are served?
Every meal offers a main menu and alternative selection.  Menus are changed in Fall and Spring to reflect seasonal availablity and variety. Special diets to suit nutritional needs are provided. There is a part time dietitian who assesses and monitors diets weekly.
