1. Muskoka District Council Highlights - September 7, 2010
1. Ontario Winter Games Presentation
Scott Aitchison, Chair of the Ontario Winter Games Committee, presented an appreciation plaque to District Chair, Gord Adams to recognize the financial support provided by Council which contributed to the success of the games.
2. Deferral of Solid Waste Costs
At the request of the Township of Muskoka Lakes, the Muskoka Ratepayers Association and the Muskoka Lakes Association, the recommendation of the Solid Waste Financial Review Committee regarding the allocation of solid waste costs, was deferred by Council. Chair Adams indicated that the deferral would allow time for the public and the Township to consider the matter and provide comments on the proposal and offer other options.
3. Ministry of Transportation Review of Access to Highway 11 at High Falls
Road and Holiday Park Drive, Bracebridge
Council approved Report No. PW-8-2010-8 which contained comments to the Ministry on the proposed highway upgrades in this area. Several concerns were expressed in that report, please click here to review that report. Council was advised that the Town of Bracebridge Council will be providing the same comments to the Ministry of Transportation.back to top
2. Muskoka Moving Forward Visioning Initiative
The District is currently in the process of reviewing the existing vision for the region. The vision helps to shape the future of Muskoka and guides policies in the Muskoka Official Plan. Collecting public input is a key component of the process and we want to hear from all residents, businesses, and organizations. To get more information about this initiative, click here. Surveys were collected throughout the summer and there are still opportunities to participate this fall.
