Municipal Water Quality

This division is also responsible for Muskoka’s environmental services laboratory which monitors the quality of raw and finished drinking water, as well as influent to and effluent from Muskoka’s sewage treatment plants and lagoons. Additional testing is carried out by independent laboratories for quality assurance. Presently, all testing for bacteria in drinking water is performed by an accredited private laboratory. All water sampling, testing and reporting is carried out in strict compliance with the requirements of Ontario’s Safe Drinking Water Act, 2002, Regulation 170/03.
