Muskoka Watershed Pilot Project
The Ministry of Environment has approached The District Municipality of Muskoka to undertake a pilot program to determine what further technical work is required to adequately identify and categorize risks to municipal drinking water sources. A scoped source protection planning program will be designed through this process.
The objective of this pilot study will be to undertake a staged evaluation of the 9 drinking water systems within the Muskoka River watershed to determine the methodologies appropriate for defining vulnerable areas and risks to drinking water in a manner appropriate to the geological, hydrogeological, and hydrological environment.
Muskoka Source Water Study - Part 1: Program Design
This report provides detailed methodologies that will be used to identify vulnerable areas, drinking water issues and threats to the drinking water supply for the eight surface water systems and one groundwater system servicing Muskoka.
Muskoka Source Water Study - Part 2: Vulnerability Assessment for Muskoka Source Protection Planning
This report provides delineations for Intake Protection Zones and Wellhead Protection Areas for the municipal drinking water supplies in Muskoka primarily following the methodology set out in the Part 1 report above.
