Engineering and Public Works
The Engineering and Public Works Department is responsible for municipal drinking water and sanitary sewage works; Muskoka’s District Roads; treatment and disposal of sewage from septic and holding tanks; collection, diversion and disposal of solid waste; and the management of the Port Carling Locks, including the James Bartleman Island Park.
The public works vested in the District Corporation include 8 sewage systems, 9 waterworks, 9 hauled sewage lagoons, over 700 kilometres of highway, 50 bridges and 10 landfill sites & transfer stations.
The Department is organized into four divisions, each with a Director reporting to the Commissioner. For a list of each division's function, click below.
