Port Carling Locks:

By-Law 2010-32 to allow early opening of the Port Carling Locks for 2010:  Notwithstanding by-law 2010-20, the opening date for the Port Carling Locks excluding the bascule bridge for 2010 shall be April 15, 2010.

Large Lock:

Operation of the large lock and lift bridge outside of normal hours of operation will be by appointment only. After Labour Day weekend, operations will be subject to weather and/or water conditions. The large lock will be closed prior to the first Monday in May and after the last Friday in November. All appointments must be booked at least 24 hours in advance.

Small Lock:

The small lock will closed prior to the second Monday in June and after the Tuesday following Labour Day. 

For the months of July and August, 2010 (trial period), the small lock will be available on a self-operated basis during those hours that the large lock is not available.  The hours would be:   
                         Monday to Thursday -11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m
                         Friday - midnight to 8:00 a.m.
                         Saturday - midnight to 8:00 a.m.
                         Sunday - 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

The Port Carling Locks are operated on behalf of Muskoka by the Township of Muskoka Lakes. The Lock Master can be reached at 705-765-3761. 



Port Sandfield Swing Bridge - Hours of Operation

  1. Prior to First Monday in May - CLOSED
  2. First Monday in May to last Friday in November by appointment only.
  3. After last Friday in November - CLOSED
