Municipal Water and Sewer Services
The District of Muskoka is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all municipal water and sewage works in Muskoka, including those in Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Huntsville, Bala, Port Carling, MacTier, Port Severn and Baysville. Staffed almost exclusively by certified water and sewage system operators, they operate and maintain water and sewage treatment plants, pumping stations, storage facilities, watermains, sewers, fire hydrants and other appurtenances.
The safe treatment of sewage is one of the main duties of water and sewer services, and Muskoka is home to many sewage treatment plants. In addition to our many sewage treatment plants, Muskoka also utilizes septage lagoons as part of the sewage treatment process. A septage lagoon holds all matter that is pumped out of a septic tank. It is a method of treating raw sewage and is strictly monitored by the Ministry of Environment. For more information about our lagoons, please click here.
Please refer to the side menu for detailed information on District water and sewer services.
