The focus of Ontario Works is getting people back to work through the use of various employment supports and opportunities. These supports and their descriptions can be reviewed under the “Supports Available” section of this site. Ontario Works now provides both financial and employment assistance to people who are in financial need while they participate in the necessary steps to find the shortest route to paid employment.

The FAQ’s (Frequently Asked Questions) section will answer many questions regarding the Ontario Works program. “Am I Eligible?” section covers most of the eligibility criteria used to determine eligibility for the program.

The District Municipality of Muskoka Ontario Works Program is administered in Muskoka through four offices located throughout the District. The locations of these offices are listed under Location and Hours in the About Us, Community Services section of the website.

Ontario Works is designed to respect a person’s dignity, build self-esteem and promote independence. It also supports and promotes employment and community involvement to all of its participants. The program and its staff are committed to helping participants achieve their potential by giving them the tools they need to succeed.

All Ontario Works participants are involved in the development of a “Participation Agreement” (PA) which identifies and addresses an individual’s barriers to employment. By working through this PA with their case managers, participants are engaged in activities where they acquire education, training and personal life skills while in receipt of a monthly living allowance.

The staff of Ontario Works are available to assist persons on their road to success and personal independence. If you are currently participating in the Ontario Works program, please don’t hesitate to share your employment goals and financial needs with your Case Managers.
